2021.12.09 01:57 ghostcat545 i need advice on changing my name…

so… for some background… i came out as non-binary in high school, and by freshman year of college i decided to start using a nickname that was fairly close to my deadname. that’s the name i’ve been using for about 4 years now. it relieved how dysphoric my deadname made me, so it felt good… for awhile.
recently, i realized that i’m more specifically a non-binary trans man, and even before i admitted that to myself, my name has begun to feel… Off. Wrong. Dysphoric. It’s been hard to come to terms with that because for a long time, it gave me euphoria, but that was likely because I was not hearing my deadname instead. Anything was better than that.
now i’m… stuck. i spent years getting people to change in what they called me. truly… it took my parents 3 years for what could’ve easily just been a nickname, it was that close. in 2019, i came across the name Rylan. it clicked in my brain, like fireworks, like something coming into place. of course, i figured “okay. that can be my middle name” and hoped i wouldn’t have to actually… unpack the way it truly made me feel: real.
i’m now 3 weeks on testosterone and the old name, the one i’ve always felt like i settled on, is starting to feel worse and worse. it’s reminding me of my deadname. it’s making me feel feminine. it feels stupid coming out of my mouth. i want to roll my eyes when i introduce myself. it makes me feel like a fraud.
but how… HOW… do i do this again. even though a part of me doesn’t feel like i ever got to properly choose a new name… for everyone else, it’s going to feel like i’m just changing my name again. what if people think every name of mine is a phase. what if nobody takes it seriously. what if i miss my current name, even though i know it feels wrong, it’s familiar. i’ve used it for years.
i need… advice. encouragement. reassurance. whatever you can give. this is all i can think about. i feel trapped in a name i settled on. i want to feel real.

2021.12.09 01:57 dougiebgood How can juror's be disqualified if they don't believe in the death penalty?

I've heard of this happening a few times, and the Scott Peterson thing brought it back to my memory. Doesn't that go against being tried by a jury of your peers?
Like, I'm against the death penalty for a variety of personal reasons , I'd never choose it as a sentence if it were up to me, but I could definitely be convinced that someone was a murderer if I sat in on a trial and the evidence was clear.
It just feels odd that I'd be chosen based on my views of what the sentence would be. I also wouldn't sentence anyone to jail if they were found with a couple of joints. Would I be disqualified for a case involving that?

2021.12.09 01:57 SavienKennedy NFTs Have Hit The ETF Market

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are heading to ETF land after New York-based Defiance ETFs became the first ETF issuer to offer exposure to the emerging market last week.
The Defiance Digital Revolution ETF (NFTZ) listed on New York Stock Exchange on 2 December with a total expense ratio (TER) of 0.65%.
Tracking the BITA NFT and Blockchain Select index, the ETF’s basket is rules-based, rebalances quarterly and offers physical equity exposure to a universe of companies that generate at least 50% of their revenue from blockchain, c.r.y.p.t.o and NFT-related activities.
The index contained 34 securities weighted between 0.5% and 4% apiece, as of last month. These constituents are drawn from NFT marketplaces and issuers, blockchain technology companies and c.r.y.p.t.o asset management, trading, banking and mining.
While ETF investors already had access to a range of c.r.y.p.t.o and blockchain products, NFTZ attempts to break into the burgeoning – and to many, unfamiliar – NFT space.
Enjoying regular media attention and dubbed the Collins Dictionary word of the year for 2021, NFTs are either unique or rare physical items or more commonly units of data, such as photographs, videos, audio, blueprints and other digital files.
Like c.r.y.p.t.o , they rely on storing data on a digital ledger (blockchain) to provide proof of ownership. Unlike digital assets, NFTs are non-fungible, meaning they are not mutually interchangeable.
Between November 2017 and February this year, $163m had been spent on NFTs. Defiance said by October this year, the products’ trading volume had surged to $15bn, with a single piece by the artist Beeple, called Everydays: the First 5000 Days (pictured), selling for $69.3m.
In an interview with Insider, Defiance co-founder and CIO, Sylvia Jablonski, said: "The NFT revolution will fundamentally change the economic model for artists, athletes, creators, and many more industries that we cannot even conceive of today.
"NFTs could be bigger than the internet,” she concluded.
Attempting to tap into this trend, NFTZ has a 6.5% weighting to fintech banking firm Silvergate Capital, 5.6% to cyber security provider Cloudflare and allocations between 4.5% and 5% to c.r.y.p.t.o miners Bitfarms, Marathon Digital and Hut 8 Mining.
Interestingly, some of its largest exposures with a clear link to the NFT investment thesis include 4.5% to Coinbase, where users can buy and sell NFTs, and a considerable 5% to Playboy Group, which launched its own range of NFTs called ‘Rabbitars’.
As with many burgeoning sectors, offering a basket exposure to listed securities comes with the challenge of balancing theme purity with diversity. In NFTZ for example, most NFT exposure is either provided by allocations to an adjacent industry (such as blockchain and c.r.y.p.t.o ) or those with slight, direct involvement in NFTs (such as Playboy).
NFTs are also an innately difficult asset to gain direct exposure to via the ETF structure. While some NFT issuers and providers of the underlying blockchain technology are listed companies, the original creators of the assets themselves are individuals or small groups, such as Beeple, Larva Labs and even Edward Snowden.
More broadly, the product class faces similar challenges to those levelled against c.r.y.p.t.o .
For instance, scams, custody issues, accounting errors and association with nefarious activity have seen digital assets face questioning for potential security concerns.
Similar issues are raised against NFTs but also concerns around proof of ownership in an unregulated market. Also, NFT owners may have ownership rights but are not covered by copyright law, such as the right to dictate adaptation or reproduction.
Similarly, c.r.y.p.t.o , blockchain and NFT-related securities are subject to high valuation volatility. In just three days of trading, NFTZ had fallen -10.4%.
On a positive note, the product's launch is another step for ETFs into increasingly exotic niches and indicates investors are still looking to wrapped products for diversified exposures to future themes.

I normally did cornell note method just because I like being able to explain my steps and write down study questions on the left hand column. Do you think that this method would be good?

I'm taking 21A with Prof. Martinez-Granado, does he teach in his lectures or is it mostly self-taught?

2021.12.09 01:57 hella_buck '22 Altima for long road trips

I looked at a 22 altima 2.5 sr midknight today. I'm trading in my 19 f150 because I dont need a truck and the seats/suspension literally hurt my back, I've always had/loved Nissans and have a 2003 infiniti m45 for a project car so I have a ton of love for the brand. I drive a lot, expecting 70 000 km in 2022. I really like the Altima but im looking into CVTs and am trying to determine how they react with constant long drives up to 600 km in one day some days, so far in my research im finding that the new CVTs are really solid now but considering I drive in a unique way (long highway drives) I'm looking for input. In theory to me highway driving equals less movements for the cvt to make? I'll probably be keeping it for 1 or maybe two years because of the kilometres I do.
Any input, pros/cons would be very appreciated
